The Best Reasons to Move to Southlake
Nestled in the heart of north Texas, Southlake offers a unique blend of upscale living and close-knit community vibes. With top-notch schools and so much to do, Southlake ticks all the boxes. Check out the top ten reasons I think anyone making a move to or within the DFW metroplex should consider moving to Southlake!
Where is Southlake, Texas Located?
Southlake sits just south of Grapevine Lake and is surrounded by Trophy Club, Westlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, and Keller. It has a population of about 31,000 people and sits predominantly in Tarrant County with some areas extending into Denton County.
Ten Reasons to Move to Southlake
Southlake Town Square
The town square is an open air shopping district with over a hundred shops and lots of restaurants. There are large chain style stores like The Container Store and small boutique style stores. In addition to great shopping and eating, the square also hosts year round events and festivals like Art in the Square and Oktoberfest.
Gorgeous Homes in a Variety of Styles
Southlake tends to be known for its beautiful homes, many that fall into the luxury category. A lot of professional athletes live in this area if that gives you an idea of what you might find. The median income of Southlake is higher than surrounding areas and that’s reflected in housing prices. Right now {fall of 2023}, there are a handful of pre-owned houses for sale for under a million dollars but the majority are in the million and up price range. Don’t lose hear though, if that’s not your budget. Great deals pop up at different times!
Great Restaurants
Southlake has a huge variety of restaurants and a lot of them. From fast food to fine dining and everything in between, you can find all types of food and all types of price ranges in Southlake.
Coffee Shops
If you know me, you know I love coffee, more than almost anything. Southlake has a lot of chain coffee shops but also has a great selection of independent style shops. If you drive down Southlake Boulevard, you’ll pass at least ten coffee shops in a span of a few miles. That’s my kind of city!
Central Location
Major roadways run right through Southlake, making it easy to access from most areas of the metroplex. Whether you’re heading toward Fort Worth or Dallas, or out of the metroplex, you can quickly hop on a freeway that will get you there.
Grocery Stores
Not only does Southlake have all the regular chain grocery stores but it also has Central Market and Trader Joe’s, two of my favorites.
Bob Jones Nature Center
This nature center and preserve has more than 700 acres of cross timbers habitat with a large variety of birds and wildlife like deer, coyotes, and bobcats. It also features over 20 miles of hiking trails and a nature center. If you love the great outdoors, you’ll love this Southlake spot.
Football
In Texas, we love our Friday Night Lights, and Dragon Stadium does it well! This stadium, located in east Southlake, can seat 11,000 people and serves Carroll ISD, including Carroll High School, a school that’s won the state championship eight times!
Exemplary Public Schools
Carroll ISD is Southlake’s largest school district but areas of Southlake are also served by Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Keller ISD, and Northwest ISD. Carroll ISD recently received ‘A’ ratings by the Texas Education Agency.
Airport Proximity
I mentioned the easy access of Southlake and one of the things that makes it easy is the proximity to the airport. It’s about a fifteen minute drive away, making it easy to hop on a flight or pick up guests.
