Moving to Double Oak, Texas
Double Oak is a small town in southern Denton County, bordered by Flower Mound, Highland Village, Copper Canyon, and Bartonville. It became a town in 1974 with just 243 residents, and it has held onto its rural character ever since. The town is limited to single-family homes on lots of at least one acre, so you’ll find mature oaks, wide yards, and custom homes instead of tract neighborhoods. Shopping and dining are just minutes away in Flower Mound, Highland Village, and along FM 407.

What Is There To Do in Double Oak
Double Oak is a quiet town, and most of what happens here centers on open space, neighbors, and a few long-standing traditions. Here are a few highlights.
Hometown Tradition: Fourth of July Parade and Picnic
The Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department has hosted the town’s Fourth of July parade and picnic since about 1981. The parade rolls down Cross Timbers Drive and ends at John B. Wright Park, where the picnic brings food, live music, games, and a silent auction that supports the fire department.
Park: John B. Wright Memorial Park
John B. Wright Memorial Park and its pavilion are the town’s main gathering place. Residents come together here for the Fourth of July picnic, the Memorial Day park cleanup, and seasonal kickoff events throughout the year. It also has room for walking, hiking, and recreational activities.
Lake: Grapevine Lake and Lake Lewisville
Double Oak sits between two of the area’s biggest lakes. Grapevine Lake and Lake Lewisville are both a short drive away for boating, paddling, and lakeside trails.
Dinner and Drinks: Highland Village
For a night out, most residents drive a few minutes to Highland Village, Flower Mound, or Bartonville. The Shops at Highland Village have lots of dining and shopping in one spot (Sip + Savor is one of my favorite restaurants in The Shops) and Flower Mound has its share of restaurants and activities as well. If you’re driving to Bartonville, you have to go to Marty B’s.
