Heritage Park is one of the best outdoor spots in Flower Mound.

It’s an award-winning signature park and has more packed into it than most people realize:

⭐️ a pond for fishing 🎣

⭐️ a splash pad 💦

⭐️ bronze animal sculptures along the trail

⭐️ a StoryWalk with a new book every month

⭐️ walking trails and a boardwalk

⭐️ an 18 hole disc golf course

⭐️ the Hound Mound dog park 🐾

⭐️ an outdoor fitness area

⭐️ green space to just spread out

This is, hands down, my favorite time of year! It’s the beginning of the holiday season, there’s cooler weather on the horizon, we have lots of upcoming family birthdays, and there are so many cozy times ahead.

Over 20 years ago, I packed my family up and moved

Over 20 years ago, I packed my family up and moved from Colorado to the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.

I had no idea where we should live in this sprawling metroplex, but I found Flower Mound on a map and just liked the name (true story 😳). I had no idea how serendipitous that would turn out to be.

Here’s what I’ve learned after 20 years here:

⭐️ The schools are excellent, and there’s so much choice. We’ve done private, charter, public, all of it.

⭐️ Sports are a big deal here, but beyond the fun of Friday Night Lights, they’re also a great way to build community.

⭐️ The people are very friendly and it has a small town feel, even though we’re right next to a huge city.

⭐️ The airport is close enough to make travel and guest pick up really easy.

⭐️ Flower Mound sits in its own little pocket, but the nearby freeways mean you can get anywhere else in the metroplex without much hassle.

⭐️ There are lots of options for neighborhoods, and it’s easy to find one with the amenities you want.

⭐️ Having no state income tax still catches people off guard when they move here from out of state.

⭐️ There are abundant parks, trails, and playgrounds. It’s one of my favorite things about this town … they’ve really prioritized green space.

⭐️ Living right between Grapevine and Lewisville Lakes is a win. Boating, kayaking, trail walking, and sunset viewing over the water are all right at your fingertips.

20 years in, three different neighborhoods, and I still love it here.

If you’re looking for a Flower Mound neighborhood where the amenities are a big part of everyday life, Wellington is one to put on your list.

The homes are a great mix of styles, sizes and price points, but what really sets Wellington apart is everything you get right within the community.

One of the biggest things to know about the DFW metroplex is there really isn’t 1️⃣ DFW lifestyle.

Flower Mound, Frisco, Grapevine, Lewisville, Southlake, and all the communities in between each have their own personality, pace, and feel.

Some are more suburban. Some are more walkable. Some feel established and charming, while others are all about new development and growth.

The trick is finding the one that feels like the right fit for you.

That’s one of my favorite parts of helping people relocate to DFW: figuring out not just where you can live, but where you’ll actually love living.
